Cryogenics

It's warm & thumping
-perhaps too strongly-
So I carve a hole in the snow
cold & wet on my fingers
and cover it over
to muffle the beating.

Sleeping until the day
you're ready to dig it up
and feel it still
swollen with heat
in your hands.
