One Breath [an anniversary poem]

The calm blows
through us
when we share one breath.

Living on common air.
mirror in mirror in mirror
Occupying identical space
in life-giving
moments.
Breathing in
mutual wind.

Ignorant bliss.
unaware
of the times we:
inhale,
exhale.
Miles from:
this place,
one another.

Sustained by the breeze:
right here,
right now.

Mouth-to-mouth:
two beings,
one breath-
inseparably
intertwined
and alive.
